Safety warnings matches

Matches are flammable. Always store and use them safely, away from children and flammable materials.

Safe use

• Keep matches out of reach of children


• Strike matches only on the designated striking strip on the packaging


• Never use matches near flammable substances, gases or aerosols


• Do not use matches in a draught — the flame can flare up unexpectedly


• Hold the match away from you when striking


• Never let go of a lit match


• Never use more than one match at a time

Extinguishing and disposing

• Allow a used match to cool completely before disposing of it


• Make sure the match is fully extinguished — a nearly burnt match can still smoulder


• Never discard used matches near paper, cardboard or other flammable materials


• Never throw a burning or smouldering match in the bin


• Keep used matches separate from unused ones

Storage

• Store matches in a dry place — moisture makes them unreliable and harder to extinguish


• Store matches away from direct sunlight and heat sources


• Do not store matches near flammable substances


• Store matches in the original closed packaging


• Dispose of damaged or wet packaging
